Wakefield Main Streets, Inc. has been gathering input from residents and business owners about elements they think would strengthen our downtown. We spoke with you at a number of Farmers Markets, at Festival Italia and at Wakefield 101 at the Beebe Library to hear your views. A common thread quickly emerged: Wakefield residents and business owners want our downtown to be a center of community — an inviting, attractive place where people want to stop, gather, and meet their neighbors, not just pass through. You asked for a more vibrant downtown throughout the year with new sources of lighting, places to sit and gather within the downtown, and way-finding/kiosks for community information and event postings.

Wakefield Main Streets, Inc. proposes to add three elements to our downtown that surfaced during our community surveys. We heard you, and we agree that we can take immediate steps to make downtown Wakefield a more attractive place to spend time and a center of community once again.
